Set up the project
Create the project and its sites, choose the coordinate system, and decide how instruments and loggers should be organized. Invite the people who will operate and review it.

Connect the collection system
Choose a supported direct integration, an FTP pipeline, or the Ingest API. Configure the connection and its permissions. For files, define a parser and test the timestamp and variable mapping.

Validate the first readings
Start with a small, representative sample. Follow the ingestion run, confirm its result, and review the instrument’s variables, units, timestamps, and values before expanding the feed.

Apply the engineering context
Add calculated variables and calibration constants where needed. Set their time periods and review a known result. Recalculate relevant history when the calculation configuration changes.

Build the project view
Use maps, instrument graphs, and value tables to investigate readings. Bring related measurements together in a dashboard with charts, tables, scatter plots, and explanatory notes.

Keep the team informed
Configure anomaly definitions and email actions, assign project access, and establish a routine for reviewing detected events and ingestion failures. Connect internal tools with the Developer API when needed.

Before you connect

Bring a sample file or API payload, the sensor and logger types you use, your expected reading frequency, and the calculations and views the team needs.
